PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan shared his thoughts on the future of virtual reality in a new interview with the Washington Post. In his opinion, it is quite optimistic, but time must still pass.
“PlayStation believes in VR. Sony believes in VR. And we definitely believe that VR will become an important part of interactive entertainment in the future. Will it be this year? No. Will it be next year? No. But will this happen at some stage? We are sure of this. And we’re happy with our experience with PlayStation VR and look forward to where it will take us in the future”.
In an interview with Ryan, you can see a hint that the next generation of PS VR for the PS5 shouldn’t be expected until 2022. Previously, Sony employees said that the company does not want to defocus marketing on a few premium devices, that is, on the new generation of PS VR and PS5.
PS VR was released in October 2016 and quickly became the top-selling virtual reality headset. First of all, the success was influenced by the cost against the background of competitors, which require no less expensive computers against the background of the PS4 price.
