Insider Patrick Schur tweeted information about the engineering sample of the ASUS ROG STRIX Radeon RX 6800 XT video card. According to him, the new product is really capable of operating at a frequency of 2.5 GHz.
Hints of this were discovered back in September.
The average operating frequency of the RX 6800 XT in the ASUS version is 2291 MHz, the peak value is 2556 MHz. In this case, the total power consumption of the graphics chip and video memory reaches 289 W. Also, the insider noted that “raw” drivers were used, so the frequency may be different.
The effective frequency of video memory is 16 GHz, which excludes the possibility of variants with overclocked memory up to 18 GHz. Perhaps the exclusive Radeon RX 6900 XT will get the best memory.
AMD will officially unveil the new series of gaming graphics cards on October 28.
