Analyst: iPhone 12 pre-orders 2-4x higher than iPhone 11

Analyst iPhone 12 pre-orders 2-4x higher than iPhone 11
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a report according to which pre-orders of the iPhone 12 in the first 24 hours amounted to 1.7-2 million units. iPhone 11 sold 500-800 thousand over the same period.

The Pro model is particularly popular this year, although everyone expected more affordable versions to be in demand. The first batch of the 128GB iPhone 12 Pro in blue has already been sold out in the US. The same applies to models with different memory sizes.

Delivery times have shifted from October 23 to November 6-13. IPhone 12 mini and 12 Pro Max will only be available for pre-orders in November. Kuo expects the resulting distribution between models to be as follows:

  • iPhone 12 mini – 10-15%
  • iPhone 12 – 30-35%
  • iPhone 12 Pro – 30-35%
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max – 15-20%

According to the analyst, the low demand for the mini-model is due to its low popularity in the Chinese market. Consumers in this region prefer smartphones with large screens and two physical SIM cards.
