A new map has entered Valorant with a mystery behind it?
With the release of Act 3 in Valorant, Riot introduced Icebox, a completely new map. There may be more to a winter battlefield than players realize.
A short tour of the frozen location hints that in the third act of Valorant there are several secrets and interesting plots.
What’s the secret of Icebox?
There are smaller maps around the new map that show the location of the “main power lines”. Each is connected to the other, some double before going to other nodes. Usually, players will find these to be “fillers”, something that will help give the map some character. But these maps actually lead to powerboxes scattered throughout the level.
There are even more puzzles to be found on Icebox, including, for example, graffiti and promotional materials for the port. There is a logo on the map that reads “Think outside the box”, which can be a kind of clue.
If users set up a custom game and start flying around it, you’ll quickly find that there are even more details to it, indicating that something is actually there.
It’s possible that a potential event can only be triggered in certain game modes or would need to be resolved and activated by a certain number of players, but Riot has spent an enormous amount of time modeling, rendering, and placing assets that no one will ever see unless they really try.
For example, these two computers are located in one of the towers that overlook Icebox’s B site. If it weren’t for private server clipping, gamers would never see two computer screens or that everyone has a different display. And they also couldn’t compare them with a few other computers, with similar symbols across the level.
The game files show an interactive object called “Breaker Box” that also appears to be connected to Icebox and its mysterious powerboxes and maps. It has tons of clues that point to a world beyond Valorant’s 5v5 competitive mode, and it looks like Act III could be Valorant’s developers’ way of showing this part of the game.
