Ed Boone explains why Mileena hasn't been in Mortal Kombat 11 for so long

On a stream at New York Comic-Con, Mortal Kombat franchise head and NetherRealm Studios head Ed Boone talked about why an iconic character like Milina has been absent for so long during the life cycle of Mortal Kombat 11 .

According to Boone , the studio needed to create some kind of intrigue around the heroine and gradually build a story for her return. After all, according to the canon, Milina died in Mortal Kombat X.

Milina was one of the first characters in Mortal Kombat 1 and 2. On one side were Sub-Zero and Scorpio, and on the other Kitana and Milina. They’ve been classic opponents in the series for many years, and we’ve been pushing that constantly. At some point, we put Milina’s story on pause, but we didn’t think fans would want her back so badly.

In the end, we decided to stretch this moment of increasing hype, I started teasing a little more details. As a result, the hero trailer was the result of these audience games.
