The vast majority of PS4 games will launch on PS5

A section on PS5 backward compatibility has been added to support.playstation.com. In general, the news is only good so far, but there are several suspicious points.

  • The vast majority of PS4 games will launch on PS5
  • Some will support Game Boost with improved frame rates, faster downloads, higher resolutions
  • Some will delight with special features of the PS5 interface
  • PS4 to PS5 Remote Play Available
  •
  • Some games may have bugs, broken functions
  • Make sure the base game is working properly before purchasing DLC
  • Saves can be transferred from PS4 to PS5 via Wi-Fi
  • DualShock 4 recommended for backward compatibility gaming
  • Share menu does not work in games due to backward compatibility
  • Direct streaming from console does not work with games due to backward compatibility
  • New PS5-only games not compatible with DualShock 4
  • Second Screen app doesn’t work with PS5
  • HDR is enabled by default
  • PS5’s new camera is incompatible with backward compatibility games

These games will definitely not work on PS5 due to backward compatibility:

  • DWVR
  • Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One
  • TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2
  • Just Deal With It!
  • Shadow complex remastered
  • Robinson: The Journey
  • We sing
  • Hitman Go: Definitive Edition
  • Shadwen
  • Joe’s diner

And the simplest recommendation from Sony – don’t delay updating the PS5 firmware.
