The plot Ready Player Two will be a carbon copy of the original book

Get ready for a totally original déjà vu. Author Ernest Kline shared the plot details of Ready Player Two, the sequel to the film-based novel. And judging by what the author said, he ran out of ideas.

Many fans expected the sequel to revolve around Art3mis – Wade’s love interest from the first book, which is almost entirely in line with the classic formula of “the perfect non-ideal geek girl”. At the New York Comic-Con conference, the writer announced that the sequel is again dedicated to Wade, and the story almost repeats the events of the original.

Days after James Halliday’s race victory, Wade Watts discovers something that changes everything. The Halliday vaults contain a technological development that will once again change the world and make the OASIS a thousand times more amazing and addictive than even Wade himself imagined.

But then a new riddle and a new quest appear – Halliday’s last Easter egg, hinting at a mysterious prize. An unexpected, incredibly powerful and dangerous opponent appears, ready to kill millions to get what he wants. Wade’s life and the future of the OASIS are again at stake, but this time the fate of all mankind is in question.

That is, this is a story about the second Easter egg from the creator of the OASIS, which will again change the essence of virtual reality. Once again, a super-powerful enemy awaits us who wants to take control of the virtual world.

A rather strange direction was chosen by the author for nine years of work on the sequel. It might not be all that bad, but the description gives the impression that this is just an attempt to make money from a famous name.

Ready Player Two is out November 24th.
