Twitch is making some weird moves lately that more and more people don’t like.

Some time ago, Twitch had to explain himself with commercials that were run in an automated manner and which often completely obscured streams at really important moments. After a lot of negative votes from viewers and streamers alike, Twitch pulled back from the idea.

Now everything seems to indicate that the website is testing some new ads again, this time displayed directly in the chat.

How does advertising something in chat look like?

One of the streamers, specifically “@Mr_iKeepitreal” showed what the new ads look like on Twitch. It is very possible that these are some preliminary tests, because it is hard to believe that it is the final product.

In short, an account appears in the chat with a special developer designation. Interestingly, these messages cannot be deleted in any way. You can clean the chat and it will actually work, but not on developer accounts. In practice, this means that accounts of this type cannot be banned, mutated, deleted, etc.

There is quite a rash in the community, because it looks as if the website is getting ready to introduce a new type of ads that will be displayed not only on the stream, but also in the chat.

Twitch has yet to respond to community questions about this particular situation. The employee from whose account the message was sent was also silent.
