The project is a victim of the new wave of delays in the launch of Hollywood productions.
While Warner Bros. Pictures tried with Tenet to bring the masses back to the cinema, the film’s poor box office performance coupled with the advance of the pandemic in the West has caused a new wave of delays in the releases of major Hollywood productions, including the Minecraft adaptation that runs out of date. The Minecraft movie was scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on March 4, 2022 under distribution by Warner Bros. Pictures in collaboration with Vertigo Entertainment and Mojang Studios, developers of the successful sandbox-type video game. It is also unknown when filming for the production could begin. It is in the public domain who will be the main responsible for the feature film, Peter Sollett directing with Allison Schroeder (Christopher Robin) to the script. Both would be working on a story where a young woman and her group of unlikely adventurers will have to stop Ender Dragon’s plans, although the details about the plot have not yet been confirmed by the agents involved in the project.
It is not the only video game adaptation to hit theaters from Warner Bros. Pictures. The new Mortal Kombat movie, whose filming concluded several months ago, is scheduled to be released on January 15, a date that remains for now. The premiere of Uncharted , with Tom Holland, as well as the filming of a new Tomb Raider feature film is also scheduled for 2021.
Returning to Minecraft, the video game has made headlines recently for the landing of several of its characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
