Constantin Film announced that a new movie adaptation of Resident Evil will be created.
Resident Evil will stay for a longer time not only on our TV screens and monitors in the eight installment of the game series and two Netflix series, but also return to the cinemas. Constantin Film announced the creation of a new film series based on the famous series of games from Capcom. It will not be a continuation of Paul WS Anderson’s series finished in 2016, but a completely new start for the brand.
Johannes Roberts, who is known as the creator of bad horror films, such as On Other Side of the Door, Strangers: The Sacrifice, and two parts of the Underwater Trap, will be responsible for the script and directing of the film. The name of the director is not optimistic, but the production is to be a faithful adaptation of the first installment of Resident Evil, released in 1996. So the story will take place in 1998 on that fateful night in Raccoon City.
The cast of the film looks interesting, which for some may turn out to be controversial. Claire Redfield will be played by Kaya Scodelario, known from the Maze Runner trilogy, and Jill Valentine will be played by Hannah John-Kamen, who you may know from Ant-Man and the Wasp. Robbie Amell (Upload) will play Chris Redfield, and Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Balls to the Head) will play Leon S. Kennedy. Tom Hopper, known from The Umbrella Academy, will play Albert Wesker, and Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) will play William Birkin.
“In this movie, I really want to go back to the original two game parts and recreate the terrifying inner experience I had when I first played them. At the same time, it tells a down-to-earth human story about a small, dying American town that would be relevant and relevant to today’s audience, ”said the director.
We would like to remind you that there are already two series from Netflix in production. The first is an acting series that tells the story of two Wesker sisters, and the story takes place on two time levels. The second is the animation entitled Resident Evil: Eternal Darkness. Nothing more is known about this production.
