This morning some players were forced to change their nickname for some reason.
Since yesterday evening, there have been a lot of topics on social media, but also on Reddit, that the system for detecting offensive words in nicknames has clearly gone crazy. Players are massively asked to set a new name without the possibility of returning to the old nickname.
Massive force change of nicks
This case would probably not have been publicized in any way if it were not for the fact that topics about it are removed from Reddit in no time at all for no apparent reason.
As we read in the case of MrPhi, his nickname “Phibonacci” was considered offensive / incorrect. It quickly turned out that there were many more such cases. It looks as if the system has caught a strange problem for which even the support department does not have one specific advice at this point. Instead, he admits that the system has a problem.
People who wrote to the support department about it remain either unanswered, or their nickname is simply restored. What is surprising for the players is that support has to do it manually.
So far, it is not known why players have a problem with this and what is the scale of this problem. Mainly because topics about it are simply removed and the community itself indicates that it’s hard to find any information about it.
Some are more irritated, others less. There are quite a few people who’ve been hitting on their nicknames when changing the account naming system to Riot ID, and now can’t log in without making changes to their account.
