Spider-Man Creative Director speaks on Peter Parker's new face after backlash

It wouldn’t be a normal day in PlayStation Nation without some controversy, right? The latest incident of people insulting slurs on social media stems from Marvel’s Spider-Man PS5 remaster . If you haven’t heard it before, Peter Parker has a new face model, and by new face model we mean he looks like a whole different person.

Needless to say, Peter’s new mug has divided opinion. Some people think it’s an improvement, while others wonder why it needed to be changed in the first place. It all exploded to such an extent that Brian Intihar, creative director of developer Insomniac Games, felt the need to release a statement about it.

At this point, Insomniac’s stance on the Spidey redesign is clear, as Intihar reiterates what the studio has previously said on the PlayStation blog. The bottom line is that the old model is outdated – the developer needed a better fit for the future facial capture, so they decided to recast Peter Parker, starting with the upcoming PS5 remaster. Peter is now modeled after actor Ben Jordan.

Spidey’s voice actor, prolific Yuri Lowenthal, added to the conversation on Twitter:

So yes, that’s it. Which face do you like the most? We’re currently running a poll right here on the site, so go ahead and vote if you haven’t already.
