New information on an upcoming game exclusive PS5 : “Returnal” is apparently a play on science dark -Fiction with roguelike elements in which each death is only the beginning of a new iteration. We also learn how the game uses PlayStation 5 technology.
What kind of game will be the dark “Returnal”, which Sony announced some time ago as a PlayStation exclusive? Thanks to new information on the PlayStation site, we’re a little closer to the answer: As Astronaut Selene, we fight our way through hordes of adversaries on a hostile planet. If the character dies, they will be reborn at the start of their journey – but the world around them has changed.
Fight, die, start over – “Returnal” will be a roguelike shooter
The website says, “The more you play this rogue-like shooter, the more you realize that when you die not only the planet changes, but the items you have available as well.” With each cycle you have new things combine, rethink your existing tactics, and use a new strategy in each fight. Sony promises “breathtaking graphic effects”, “extreme replayability” and a “captivating narrative style” in which Selene’s memories gradually come together to form a whole.
Innovative PS5 feature: change firing mode with adaptive triggers
The website also provides information on how PS5 technology will be used in “Returnal”. The SSD should guarantee “incredibly short load times” when jumping between planets. Haptic feedback supports immersion when firing weapons and other in-game actions. Tempest 3D AudioTech is designed to provide full hearing so you can hear your opponents from all directions.
Especially interesting: you can change the fire mode of your weapon using the adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller. The gamepad obviously differentiates how hard and how far you pull the trigger and uses that information in gameplay.
“Returnal” will be released for PlayStation 5 at an as yet unknown date.
