The developers decided to cancel Among Us 2. The reason for this is other plans for the future of the project.
Among Us is one of the biggest hits of 2020. A simple party game, first released in 2018, became one of the most popular games on Twitch this year. From the end of August, almost all the greatest creators of the American streaming platform have played it, including Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and Felix “xQc” Lengyel.
The developers promised to release the continuation of the production some time ago, but for now they decided to cancel it in order to focus on improving the original game.
Sequel will probably hit the market one day, but not yet
The three developers working on the project announced on September 23:
The main reason we’re shooting the sequel is because the source code Among Us 1 is so outdated and not made to support adding so much new content.
We chose to leave Among Us 2 and focus instead on improving Among Us 1. All the content we planned for Among Us 2 will go to the Among Us 1 folder.
The extra time is sure to allow Innersloth to improve the game enormously. The developers intend to implement some very welcome features, including the friend system and the color blind mode.
The developers are also designing a new scene for players that will largely be based on the Henry Stickmin series, also developed by Innersloth.
It is very early and we have just started designing the layout. However, the topic has been settled! The next stage in Among Us will be the Henry Stickmin-themed location.

So far, the developers have not set any time frame for all these novelties. What is certain is that Among Us players will have a lot to do in the coming months.
