I underestimated the actual size of the PS5 and Xbox Series X

More power needs its space – apparently also on the shelf. It has long been known that the PS5 and Xbox Series X & S are pretty gigantic. A number of practical illustrations now illustrate their relative proportions according to the published dimensions – the result: I have to renovate my living room.

The crudest data on PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S is finally out. This also includes the exact dimensions of the next generation consoles. Illustrator Kei Sawada has on Twitter now posted a series of images showing all consoles side by side against different sizes of TVs. Above all, the dimensions of the PS5 exceed the capacity of my establishment. Anyone who has ever had their PlayStation on a conventional shelf should eventually contact the interior designer they trust.

Better at the top than at the bottom: Next-gen consoles are taller

Pictures show that the PS5 is almost as high as a Nintendo Switch in the dock, even when lying down. But the Xbox Series X and S also require more space and may no longer fit into all of the shelf compartments. The new consoles are better placed on a surface, but there they are also clearly visible and no longer integrate so subtly into the interior.

You can see the entire set of images in its entirety on Twitter .

The PS5 is heavier than the PS4 Pro, but hopefully quieter

The operating temperature and volume of the new consoles are not yet known. If you want to hide your PS5 in the wall unit, you need to ensure adequate ventilation. What we already know is the weight of the new PlayStation: it weighs over a kilo more than the previous model, the version without a disc drive weighs about 600 grams less than the normal PS5. The new Dual Sense controller also weighs more than the DualShock 4.
