Apple wants Fortnite to return if Epic removes in-app purchase

Despite all the legal issues between Epic Games and Apple, Apple is looking for ways to get Fortnite back from the App Store. Apple will allow Fortnite to return to the App Store if Epic Games removes the in-ap purchase options they recently added to the Fortnite store ahead of the release of Chapter 2 of Season 4. The courts recently ruled that Apple would restore Epic developer accounts, but the court was also in favor of Apple kicking Fortnite from the App Store. Fortnite is available now for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Mobile.

Our top priority is to ensure that App Store users have a great experience in a safe and reliable environment, including iPhone users who play Fortnite and look forward to the next season of the game, ” Apple said following a recent court ruling. “We agree with Justice Gonzalez-Rogers that ‘the sane way to proceed’ is for Epic to follow ‘App Store’ guidelines and continue to operate as the case progresses. If Epic takes the action recommended by the judge, we’ll gladly welcome Fortnite on iOS. We look forward to presenting our case to court in September.

Although Apple is offering Epic Games in this way to get out of the predicament Fortnite is currently in, Epic Games does not seem interested in changing the purchasing options built into their store. Epic Games have already told fans of Fortnite on iOS that they will not be able to participate in the season and the company is blaming Apple accordingly. As Chapter 2 of Season 4 quickly approaches, Fortnite appears to be in limbo on the mobile platform.
