Fortnite: new season will not be available on iPhone and Mac, Epic confirms Add Your Heading Text Here
Epic Games has updated its Frequently Asked Questions to indicate that players on iPhone, iPad and Mac will not be able to play Season 4 of Chapter 2 which will be available starting tomorrow on all other platforms.
Apple is blocking Fortnite updates and new installations from the App Store, and has stated that they will end our ability to develop Fortnite for Apple devices. As a result, the update (v14.00) for Season 4 of Chapter 2 will not be available on iOS and macOS on August 27.
If you still want to play Fortnite on Android, you can access the latest version of Fortnite from the Epic Games app for Android at Fortnite.com/Android or the Samsung Galaxy Store.
This Frequently Asked Questions ad is more of a way to educate the general public than anything else. Epic Games had already made it clear that the new season could not be offered on iOS because of its legal fight with Apple.
As a reminder, Epic added its own payment method in Fortnite recently, which allows it to not pay the 30% commission to Apple. As a result of this behavior, Apple removed Fortnite from the App Store (Google did the same on the Android Play Store). Epic has since taken Apple to court and a first decision came this week: Apple is not obligated to put Fortnite back on the App Store, but it does not have the right to block the Unreal Engine (used by many games). Another hearing will take place on September 28 with judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers who oversees the Apple vs Epic fight.
